Vol. 128 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Differential Renting Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the reasons for the delay in sanctioning the revised differential renting scheme submitted to his Department by the Dublin County Council.

There was no need to expedite a decision in this matter as the revised renting scheme in Dublin County was not proposed to come into operation until the 1st April next. I was aware that the city scheme was under review and that if any important changes were made in it, the details of the county scheme might similarly come up for review. I also wished to have the opportunity of hearing the views of the tenants' representatives who were received by me in October. Sanction to the county council's scheme was issued in November.

Can I take it from the Minister that he is prepared to sanction the scheme sent to him by the Dublin County Council?

I have sanctioned it and I told the Deputy that.

It was hard to hear the Minister, he was so pianissimo.

That is rather unusual, I think.
