Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Proposals under Works Act.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state on what date last year local authorities were asked to submit proposals under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, and whether local authorities have been similarly so requested this year; and, if so, on what date.

The last letter issued in this regard was dated 14th December, 1950.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (1) the amount of grants notified to the Wexford County Council for work under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, in respect of the present financial year; and (2) the amount of money expended to date.

A sum of £60,000 has been allocated to Wexford County Council for the execution of approved works under the Local Authorities (Works) Act in the current financial year and, in addition, a special allocation of £1,000 has been made available to them for the execution of works which are directly ancillary to operations under the Land Rehabilitation Project.

According to the information furnished by the council, a sum of £46,152 has been expended to 26th January, 1952.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether or not grants will be made available to local authorities to carry out work of drainage under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, during the coming financial year.

Grants will I hope be available to local authorities in 1952-53 for the execution of works under the Local Authorities (Works) Act.
