Vol. 129 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Chocolate Manufacture at Dungarvan.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is a fact that machinery is at present being installed in a factory at Dungarvan for processing milk to produce a chocolate ingredient; and, if so, whether a licence has been issued for the purpose.

Mr. Walsh

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As to the second part of the question, an application has been received from a Co-operative Creamery Society for a licence under the Creamery Act, 1928, to enable it to manufacture chocolate crumb and I have intimated to the society that I will be prepared in due course to grant the licence, subject to the condition that the quantity of milk to be used by the society for the manufacture of milk products other than butter (which must not in any event exceed the quantity used by it during the present season) will be the subject of prior consultation with my Department.
