Vol. 131 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Egg Export Prices.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he has made any representations to the Government of Great Britain or elsewhere regarding egg export prices and if he will state what the present position is in the matter.

Mr. Walsh

The answer to the first part of the question is "Yes." As regards the second part of the question, an agreement was negotiated recently with the British Ministry of Food for the sale of eggs to them up to February, 1953, and I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Deputy Dillon's question of the 5th March last on the subject of that agreement. Provision has also been made in trade agreements with Spain, Western Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the export of eggs to those countries if market conditions are favourable, and a quantity of eggs has already been sold to Spain this year.
