Vol. 131 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Roscrea Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will take steps to have sewerage and sanitary connections made to the houses owned by landlords in the town of Roscrea, as the matter has been under consideration by the North Tipperary County Council for the past six years.

Sections 12 and 20 of the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Act, 1948, confer on sanitary authorities power to enforce the connection of premises with water and sewerage services. The importance of using these powers to secure the maximum number of connections has been brought to the notice of all sanitary authorities on a number of occasions. I am not aware of the position in Roscrea, as stated in the latter part of the Deputy's question, but I am asking the sanitary authority for a report.
