Vol. 131 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Refusal of Merchandise Licence.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has refused an application for a merchandise licence for a lorry owner in the Ballygarret area, County Wexford; and, if so, whether he will state the grounds on which the refusal was made.

The conditions governing the issue of new merchandise licences by the Minister for Industry and Commerce are contained in Section 12 of the Road Transport Act, 1933 (No. 8 of 1933) and Section 115 of the Transport Act, 1944 (No. 21 of 1944). These conditions were not fulfilled in the case of a recent application for a merchandise licence made by the Deputy on behalf of a lorry owner in the Ballygarret area, County Wexford, and the application was accordingly refused.
