Vol. 132 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - “Peripneumonia Contagiosa Bovum”

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether in the light of modern discovery there is any distinct infectious disease properly describable as "peripneumonia contagiosa bovum"; and, if not, whether he will have it deleted from the return of outbreaks of disease under the Diseases of Animals Act.

The description referred to in the first part of the question is used here and elsewhere in certain periodical official statements on outbreaks of animal disease, as an alternative to the perhaps more scientifically correct term Pleuro-pneumonia. For the purpose of maintaining international uniformity in these statements I think it is better to retain it as a secondary description.
