Vol. 132 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trade in Irish Towns.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the general decay of Irish provincial towns, he will indicate if he contemplates any method of solving the problem of trade competition between creameries and towns and also between towns and travelling shops.

I am unable to accept the implication in the Deputy's question. On the information available to me I do not consider that retail trading as carried on by co-operative creameries necessities any action on my part. Where travelling shops are concerned I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave on the 28th February, 1952, to a question from him on this subject.
