Vol. 135 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authorities (Works) Act.

Mr. J. Lynch

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the reasons why his Department held up sanction for schemes under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, in Kerry until the end of October, thereby compelling the Kerry County Council and subsidiary bodies in the county to spend moneys between the end of October and 31st March, 1953, when no real economic result can be hoped for as these works are mainly to alleviate road flooding.

Information which would have enabled me to give my approval to the programme of works submitted by Kerry County Council was withheld as between May 21st and October 18th. Sanction issued immediately on its receipt.
