Vol. 135 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Market for County Clare Turf.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that dissatisfaction still exists in the West Clare area regarding the disposal of hand-won turf; and, if so, if he will state whether he proposes to take steps to ensure that a market is found for all good quality turf in the hands of producers in this area.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply on 6th November to a similar question regarding another area.

As far as the West Clare area is concerned, I am not aware of any dissatisfaction regarding disposal of this year's hand-won turf crop. On the contrary, my information indicates that there is every likelihood that all the saleable turf in the area will be disposed of before the end of the winter.
