Vol. 135 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - State Farm Employees' Wages.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will consider increasing the wages of the employees on State farms.

The agricultural workers employed on farms under the control of my Department are paid wages higher than the rates of wages current in the districts in which these farms are situated, and I propose to see that such an arrangement is maintained.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that other employees of his Department receive more than the wages paid to agricultural workers on State farms? Is he aware that on the State farms at Johnstown Castle, Wexford, the agricultural workers receive £3 17s. 6d., while those employed on the land reclamation scheme are in receipt of £4 2s. 6d per week?

I am not so aware.
