Vol. 137 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Office Furniture for Store Street Building.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state whether and, if so, in what circumstances an order was placed for office chairs and desks for the new Store Street building with a Dutch firm in Utrecht and why the order was not given to an Irish firm in view of the Government's policy of fostering Irish industry.

The answer is in the negative. The order for office chairs and desks, to which the Deputy presumably is referring, has been placed with a firm of manufacturers in this country and the furniture in question is being made in their factory.

Quite right. That is the proper thing.
