Vol. 137 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Sewerage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will indicate if a request has been forwarded by the Cork County Council to his Department in connection with the Foreshore Acts, for the provision of new sewerage schemes at (a) Ringasciddy and (b) Crosshaven, County Cork; and, if so, what action he proposes to take.

Applications have been received from the Cork County Council for permission to lay sewerage outfall pipes on foreshore in connection with sewerage schemes at Ringasciddy and Crosshaven.

In considering applications for licences to erect any works on the foreshore, regard is had to any possible navigational, fishery or other interests. The departmental examination of the Ringasciddy proposal has been completed and on 11th March the county council were requested to give public notice of the application, thus affording any parties who may be interested an opportunity of making representations to me within a period of three weeks. As soon as this period has expired, the further consideration of the applications will be pursued immediately.

It is expected that the examination of the Crosshaven proposal will be completed shortly, and in this case also the county council will be asked to give public notice in the local Press.
