Vol. 140 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Building Plans.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate whether there are any plans for housing and development of sites or tenders for building submitted by (a) Cork Corporation and (b) the Southern Committee of Cork County Council awaiting sanction in his Department and, if so, the dates when they were submitted and if he will take steps to expedite their approval.

There are no plans in respect of immmediately pending housing schemes in Cork City awaiting sanction in my Department. Revised house plans which Cork Corporation propose to use at a future date in central city areas were received in my Department on the 28th May, 1953. These plans have been the subject of discussions with the corporation's technical advisers and it is expected that they will be brought to final shape in the near future.

Outline planning proposals for the general development of Killeenreen-downey and the adjoining areas, submitted by Cork Corporation on the 19th June, 1953, and a proposal for the acceptance by the corporation of a tender for the erection of 164 houses at Churchfield, received in my Department on the 22nd June, 1953, are underconsideration. There will be no avoidable delay in dealing with them.

Plans for a scheme of four houses at Coolymurraghue were submitted by the Southern Committee of the Cork County Council on 2nd July, 1953. These will also be dealt with expeditiously.
