Vol. 142 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Maine Drainage Survey.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, in view of the fact that the survey of the Maine drainage catchment area will be completed this year, he will take steps to sanction the operation of the scheme early in the coming year.

As indicated in reply to a previous question by the Deputy, it will be necessary, on completion of the field work of the survey, to plot the data collected and to design an arterial drainage scheme for the catchment. Subsequently, the statutory requirements in regard to exhibition, etc., of the scheme must be complied with before it can be submitted for confirmation. I am not in a position to say how long these steps may take, but there is no prospect of their being completed in time to permit of works being started next year.
