Vol. 142 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arrests in England.

asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been directed to the report which appeared in an English newspaper of 31st July last regarding the arrest by the British police of three men for the possession of firearms at Bishop Storton; and, if so, if he will state whether the statements made in that report are correct, viz., (1) that the matter was uncovered with the assistance of the Irish police; (2) that the plot was revealed through the interception of secret I.R.A. documents by the Dublin police; and (3) that a statement was made to the newspaper reporter by an official described as a Dublin C.I.D. man, and if the State forces did not so collaborate if he will cause a full inquiry to be made and the report published.

Mr. Boland

I have been informed by the Commissioner, Garda Síochána, that there is no truth whatever in thestatements quoted from the Press report to which the Deputy refers.
