Vol. 142 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trade Relations with Germany.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state if efforts are being made to develop valuable trade relations with Germany.

Trade between Ireland and Germany has been substantial in recent years. It is hoped that the trade between the two countries will increase still further under the Trade Agreement which was initialled following negotiations in Dublin a few weeks ago.

Remembering that an even more valuable trade between this country and Germany might be undertaken and that the closest friendly relations should exist between the two countries, does the Minister think the recent performance of Deputy Cowan in Strasbourg will help our trade relations?

That does not arise.

I do not think that either Deputy Dillon or Deputy O. Flanagan can prevent friendly relations and trade relations between this country and Germany.

Might I ask the Minister——

I will not allow the Deputy to proceed any further on that line.
