Vol. 142 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Artificial Insemination Centre.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether the artificial insemination centre has been removed from Grange Farm; and, if so, whither and why.

The main artificial insemination station at my Department's farm at Grange, County Meath, has not been removed from there.

In the district immediately surrounding the main station at Grange the day-to-day commercial arrangements in regard to the distribution service to farmers were until recently operated direct from the main station. The Dublin District Milk Board, which had already been operating the day-to-day commercial arrangements in other districts from a number of substations to the main station, recently established a new substation at Athboy to take over the day-to-day commercial arrangements in the district previously serviced direct from the main station. The semen required at all these substations is purchased by the board from the main station.
