The number of persons assessed to surtax in respect of the year 1951-52 at 30th September, 1953, was 5,933, and the total income assessed in respect of that year at 30th September, 1953, was £19,551,335. As the Special Commissioners continue to receive returns for 1951-52, these figures are subject to variation according as further assessments are made and existing ones adjusted.
