Vol. 144 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tax Concession to Cinemas.

Mr. Brennan

asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider introducing proposals for legislation to extend beyond three years the tax-free concession to cinemas in certain towns, as provided for in the Finance Act, 1953.

The legal provisions generally governing the exemption from entertainments duty of entertainments held in certain small towns and rural areas will be reviewed in connection with the forthcoming Budget and Finance Bill. I cannot say at this stage what alterations, if any, in the existing law may be proposed.
