The highly-efficient rating for national teachers was abolished from 1st April, 1949 and all teachers whose work is estimated as satisfactory may now proceed to the maximum of the appropriate scale. The maxima of the present salary scales in operation since 1st April, 1953 represent the following percentage increases on the maxima of the scales in operation in 1939 for highly-efficient assistant teachers:—
