Vol. 145 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bundoran Amenities.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the fact that Bundoran is now the premier tourist resort in Ulster, he will take such steps as are necessary to ensure that no obstacles under the Town and Regional Planning Acts are placed in the way of individuals or companies wishing to erect buildings or other structures to cater for tourists and improve the social and recreational amenities of the town.

The function of applying the provisions of the Town and Regional Planning Acts to local development proposals rests primarily on the local planning authorities. A person aggrieved by the decision of a planning authority may appeal to the Minister. The Deputy may be assured that no obstacle will be put against the erection of buildings or other structures of the nature referred to by him which are designed and carried out in accordance with principles of good planning and orderly development.
