Vol. 146 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Regional Sanatorium.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the date by which it is expected that the regional sanatorium at Sarsfield's Court, Cork, will be completed; if he will consider the advisability of admitting patients to completed portions of the hospital at the earliest possible date; and whether he has taken steps to ensure the expeditious appointment of medical, nursing and domestic staff in order to prevent delay in the opening of the hospital.

It is hoped that the Southern Regional Sanatorium will be substantially completed and occupied by patients by the end of the year. There are practical difficulties in the way of admitting patients to completed units in advance of the substantial completion of the project but I will keep the Deputy's suggestion in mind. Steps are being taken to ensure that the appropriate staff are appointed in good time.
