Vol. 146 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Holiday Wages.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will instruct all local authorities to advance to their employees, including labourers, their holiday salary or wages, prior to their annual leave.

A circular letter was issued by my Department on the 1st of this month directing the attention of local authorities to the desirability of arranging that workers will receive their holiday pay before leaving on holidays and expressing the hope that, where local authorities have not already done so, they will now make suitable arrangements accordingly. I have no power to issue an instruction to local authorities in this matter.
