Vol. 147 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Egg Prices.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether he proposes controlling the price of eggs, and, if so, when.

The Prices Advisory Body held a public inquiry in November, 1952, into the prices of, and profit margins on, eggs. They reported that, in their opinion, price control would not afford a solution of the problem of high egg prices during the annual period of seasonal scarcity.

For this reason, therefore, I do not think it practicable to control the price of eggs.
