Vol. 147 No. 5

Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - Herring Curing at Downings.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he will take steps to ensure that there is no curtailment of herring curing at Downings, County Donegal.

I assume that the Deputy's question refers to herring curing operations by An Board Iascaigh Mhara. The selection of curing centres is entirely a matter for that body and I understand from the board that the centres for such herring curing as may be undertaken by them in the coming season in County Donegal will be selected with due regard to the location of the points of landing of suitable supplies of herring.
