Vol. 147 No. 5

Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acreage of Bloodstock Farms.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state (i) the total acreage of blood-stock farms for the years 1926 and 1951, (ii) the number of such farms which were operating as limited companies during the years 1926 and 1951, and (iii) the total national income from bloodstock for each of the years 1947 to 1951, inclusive, and the total income from eggs and poultry for the same period.

The information which the Deputy requires at (i) and (ii) is not available. As regards (iii), it is not possible to state the contribution to national income of the production of individual agricultural products, but I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the estimated value of the gross output of horses, eggs and poultry for each of the years 1947 to 1951 inclusive. In the case of the two latter items, the output includes the value, at farm prices, of the produce consumed in farm households.

Following is the statement:—
