Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - Appointment of Paymaster.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether a paymaster was recently appointed on the Corrib drainage scheme; and, if so, if he will state (a) the name and address of the person appointed, (b) the basis of remuneration, and (c) the actual amount received by him for each week since appointment.

Mr. Patrick Flannery, Milltown, Tuam, County Galway, was appointed pay clerk on the Corrib-Clare drainage scheme on 11th August, 1954. He is paid the standard rate of remuneration for pay clerks employed by the Commissioners of Public Works which is as follows:—

For each total payment of wages where the sum disbursed does not exceed £200

Subject to a maximum remuneration of £3 for any single payment of wages.

Payment of remuneration is made quarterly. The amount of remuneration paid to Mr. Flannery, in respect of the period from date of appointment, viz., 11th August, 1954, to the end of the September, 1954, quarter, was £23 15s., made up as follows:—
