Vol. 147 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disabled Persons' Maintenance Allowances.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of the Dublin Borough: (a) the number of applications received, to date, for disabled persons' maintenance allowances, (b) the number of such applications refused, (c) the number of such applications approved, and (d) when payment will be made.

I understand from the Dublin Corporation which administers the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) Regulations, 1954, in the Dublin County Borough that: (a) the number of applications received to date is 1,523; (b) the number of such applications refused is 239.

As regards the latter portion of the Deputy's question, the position is that the eligibility of about 600 of the applicants on grounds of means has been established but assessment of their eligibility on medical grounds has not yet been completed.
