Vol. 148 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Workers.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the reasons for the delay in paying the arrears of wages due to workers who were employed on minor employment, bog development and rural improvement schemes in County Kerry.

A proportion of the arrears of wages due to workers employed on minor schemes in Kerry has already been paid. It is hoped to pay the balance of the arrears during the current week. The delay which was unavoidable, was due to the volume of work involved in the examination of the employment records from April last. This extra work coincided with the peak pressure of payment of current wages.
