Vol. 148 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Slip Repairs.

asked the Minister for Finance if any inspection has recently been made of the slip at Dooyork, Geesala, with a view to having the necessary repairs carried out, and, if so, with what result.

A grant was sanctioned under minor employment schemes in 1949-50 for the following work in the townland of Dooyork:—

Repair accommodation road from the county road at Edward Kennedy's house north then west to the shore at Michael Conway's land and reconstruct slipway to the shore.

The work was duly carried out and no further representations have since been submitted in the matter.

A proposal for the following work in the same townland has since been received for consideration:—

Construct retaining wall from end of accommodation road at P. O'Donnell's house, east along shore at P. O'Donnell's lands for a distance of 190 feet.

This proposal would not be suitable for execution during the winter months and could not, therefore, be sanctioned as a minor employment scheme. If the beneficiaries submit an application for the work under the rural improvements scheme the case will receive further consideration.
