Vol. 149 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School for Ballyfermot.

asked the Minister for Education whether he has under consideration proposals for the erection of a technical school to serve the needs of the Ballyfermot area, Dublin, and, if so, the nature of such proposals.

No specific proposal for the erection of a vocational school at Ballyfermot has yet reached my Department. It is understood, however, that correspondence is proceeding between the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee and the Dublin Corporation regarding the terms of purchase of a site for the purpose which has been offered by the corporation.

Will the Minister do his best to have the project speeded up?

I do not think there is anything that falls to the Minister to do in these matters. The pressure and the expedition are already at such a level in the Vocational Education Committee in the City of Dublin that I can leave it to themselves, but if there is any assistance wanted, the assistance of the Department will be at their disposal.
