Vol. 150 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Vocational School in County Mayo.

asked the Minister for Education whether it is proposed to establish a vocational school at Aughleam, County Mayo, and, if so (a) the nature of the instruction intended to be given there, (b) when it is proposed to commence building operations, and (c) when it is proposed to start classes.

The County Mayo Vocational Education Committee has a one-roomed school in course of erection at Aughleam. The school will be used to provide evening courses for adults in such subjects as domestic economy and woodwork and rural building. It is expected that the school will be open for classes in September or October next.

Will the Minister state, having regard to the fact that this is an Irish-speaking area, if these classes will be conducted through the medium of Irish?

In Irish entirely.
