Vol. 151 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Hospital Staff.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the names of the persons so far appointed to the staff of the regional hospital, Limerick, the terms and conditions of their employment, and the posts remaining to be filled.

The information available in my Department as to the names of staff recruited for the regional hospital, Limerick, is incomplete. Most of the appointments are made without reference to my Department once the post is created.

The terms and conditions of appointment in connection with each post is a lengthy document and, by reason of its length, hardly appropriate for inclusion in a reply to a parliamentary question.

As I do not know, in the circumstances already explained, what posts have already been filled, it is not possible to reply to the remaining portion of the question.

I would suggest that the Deputy make his inquiries from the local authority in the first instance. If, having done so, there is information on specific points which he has been unable to get, I will be glad to assist him in any way I can.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the number and status of the staff which will be required at the new regional maternity hospital, Belfield, Limerick City.

It is not possible at this stage to state the numbers and grades of staff that will be required at the regional maternity hospital, Limerick City. Questions relating to the staffing of the hospital will be a matter for the local authority in the first instance. Building work has only recently commenced and will take about two years to complete.
