asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the persons whose names were submitted by the Irish Tourist Association for his consideration in connection with the appointment of directors of Bord Fáilte Eireann, and (b) the names and salaries of the directors appointed, and the nature of their duties.

The Irish Tourist Association nominated the following persons from whom a selection might be made for membership of Bord Fáilte Eireann:—Mr. H.J. Dowining, Mr. B. Henry and Mr. P.J. Donnellan.
The following persons have been appointed by me as members of Bord Fáilte Eireann:—Mr. J.A. Nugent (chairman), Mr. J. Conroy, Mr. J.F. Dempsey, Mr. H.J. Downing, Mr. S. J. Muldowney, Mr. P. Ó Caoimh and Mr. B. O'Regan. Remuneration of £500 a year is payable to the chairman and £200 a year each to the other members of the board.
The general duty of the board is to encourage and promote the development of tourist traffic in and to the State and detailed functions of the board are laid down in Section 5 of the Tourist Traffic Act, 1952, and Section 6 of the Tourist Traffic Act, 1955.
