Vol. 152 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Airport Staff Conditions.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that serious hardship is imposed on employees of his Department at Shannon Airport because they are compelled to work on night duty without sufficient break when changing-over from day duty; and if he will state the regulations in the matter, and the reasons for the recent changes.

I am not aware of any case at Shannon Airport in which employees of my Department are required to transfer from day to night duty without a sufficient break and no complaint in the matter has been received in my Department. In most cases a rest period of 24 hours is allowed and in no case is the break less than eight hours. I have no knowledge of any recent change in practice.
