Vol. 152 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Road Repairs.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the necessity for repairing and extending accommodation roads in South Kerry to enable turf producers to supply the turf generating station at Caherciveen in the coming year, and, if so, if he will allocate a special grant for this purpose.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to his question in regard to these roads on the 31st March last. I understand that the Caherciveen generating station will not be in commission until late in 1956 and that the 1955 turf crop will not be required for the station. The extent to which financial assistance for the improvement of the bog roads in the area will require to be made cannot be determined until details are available of locations of the bog holdings from which the station will draw supplies of the 1956 turf crop.
