Vol. 153 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Corporation: Housing Subsidy.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, in respect of each of the financial years 1953-1954, 1954-1955 and 1955-1956 to date, (a) the total amounts paid by his Department to the Cork Corporation by way of subsidy in respect of housing schemes, and (b) the balances still due.

As the reply contains a tabular statement it is proposed with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated in the Official Report.

Following is the reply:—

(b) It is not possible to indicate what balances, if any, are payable to the Corporation in respect of the financial years 1953-1954 and 1954-1955 pending receipt of the audited Housing Revenue Accounts. Such accounts as have been received suggest that no balances are payable in respect of these years.

As regards 1955-1956, a payment on account towards loan charges was made in July last and a further payment will be made in accordance with usual practice before the close of the financial year. It is not possible to say what the outstanding balances at the close of the year will be, pending receipt of audited accounts.
