Vol. 154 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal School.

asked the Minister for Education what is the position with regard to the proposed new national school at Milford, County Donegal, and what is the cause of the delay in commencing construction.

It will take some time yet to bring the case of the new school at Milford to the stage at which tenders for the erection of the building can be invited, but every effort is being made to expedite matters.

As I informed the Deputy in reply to a previous question an increasingly heavy programme of school building, enlargement and improvement is in process of being carried out, and because of the amount of work involved in connection therewith and of the pressure on the architectural staff of the Commissioners of Public Works there is inevitably considerable delay in completing the arrangements which have to be made by the commissioners in the many cases in which grants have been sanctioned by my Department, in order to enable contracts to be placed.
