Vol. 154 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industry at Greenore.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the present position concerning the proposed industry at Greenore; further, whether if the firm's plans do not materialise, he will ensure that the amenities of Greenore, which include a deep-water port and suitable buildings essential for the export of goods, will be brought to the attention of any industrialists, foreign or native, who are seeking such facilities.

As the Deputy's question about the proposed industry at Greenore relates to the intentions of a private commercial concern, I am not in a position to furnish the information requested.

The special facilities available at Greenore are on record in my Department and in the Industrial Development Authority, and were on a number of occasions brought to the notice of groups proposing to set up industries, whenever it seemed likely that these facilities would be attractive to them. The Deputy will realise, of course, that the claims of other areas with facilities to offer are also brought to the notice of industrial promoters.
