Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Accounts.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that the present system of furnishing telephone accounts quarterly causes inconvenience to subscribers, and if he will consider furnishing accounts each month.

I am not aware that the system of rendering telephone accounts quarterly causes inconvenience to the general body of subscribers, and as the furnishing of accounts monthly would involve the Department in very heavy additional cost the adoption of such an arrangement is not contemplated. In the comparatively few cases in which subscribers ask for monthly statements of calls, these are supplied on payment of a fee sufficient to cover the cost of the additional work involved.
