Vol. 160 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Housing Guarantee Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that Mayo County Council approached 15 building societies and every Irish assurance company in connection with facilities for the purchase of houses under the guarantee scheme provided for in the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1956, and that no such society or company is prepared to grant the necessary facilities; and, if so, what provision he proposes to make for such applicants in County Mayo.

I would refer the Deputy to the statement which I made in the House on the 6th instant in regard to housing, including operations under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts and the guarantee scheme provided for in the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1956.
