Vol. 161 No. 2

Committee on Finance. - Vote 17—Rates on Government Property.

I move:—

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £23,000 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1957, for Rates and Contributions in lieu of Rates, etc., in respect of Government Property, and for Contributions towards Rates on Premises occupied by Representatives of External Governments.

An estimate is made around November of the amount required upon Government buildings in lieu of rates. Usually it is subject to correction afterwards when the rates are struck for the various counties. It was underestimated in November, 1955, by £23,000. I would ask the Dáil to vote that amount to make up the difference.

Vote put and agreed to.
