Vol. 162 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Generating Stations.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what is the policy of the E.S.B. on the order of priority in the use of generating stations when the national load is decreased, having regard to the type of fuel used or the source of energy.

In meeting the demand for electricity the policy of the E.S.B. is to give first priority to hydrostations and second priority to peat-fired stations so as to secure full utilisation of available peat supplies. Stations using imported fuel are used only when hydro and peat-fired stations are unable to meet the demand.
