Vol. 162 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Business Reply Cards.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will make reciprocal arrangements with Great Britain by which "business reply cards" can be exchanged, payment for postage being defrayed by the addressee.

The extension of the business reply service as suggested by the Deputy would, I am satisfied, be disadvantageous for this Administration. Furthermore, it would entail the setting up of an unduly troublesome and costly accounting system. For these reasons, I am not prepared to consider the extension of the service.

Has the Minister any objection to saying why it would be disadvantageous?

Operational difficulties generally.
