Vol. 164 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Migration from West Galway.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of families which his Department intend to migrate this spring from West Galway to the Midlands, and the names of the townlands from which they will be taken.

Final decisions regarding migration each year are based on a number of factors, including the circumstances of the various applicants, the suitability of their lands for use in effecting rearrangement, and the number of new holdings available to the Land Commission for disposal. The Deputy will realise that such arrangements as are in train for next season's migration programme are still tentative and I am, therefore, not in a position to furnish the information sought by him.
