Vol. 164 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what proposals are before the Land Commission regarding the acquisition and division of estates in County Waterford, and the name of the estate about to be divided.

In County Waterford, proceedings have been instituted for the compulsory acquisition or resumption of three properties comprising 192 acres, while negotiations are in progress for the voluntary purchase of six estates comprising a further 1,609 acres. In addition, inquiries are being made in respect of 16 estates comprising 1,295 acres. The Land Commission have on hands about 700 acres of arable land in this county and there will be no avoidable delay in the disposal thereof. An area of 402 acres has been divided in County Waterford to date this year, but it is not possible at present to indicate what further allotments will be made during the current financial year. If the Deputy is interested in any individual case and furnishes me with particulars I shall have inquiries made regarding it.
