Vol. 165 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork City Garda Stations.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the need for the establishment of Garda stations in the Gurranebraher, Churchfield, Spangle Hill, and Ballyphehane areas of Cork City, due to the extensive growth of population in these areas of recent years; and if he intends to take any steps to provide such amenities for the residents of these areas.

The areas in question are at present served from adjoining Garda stations and I am informed that the Garda authorities do not regard the position as unsatisfactory pending the erection of a more central building.

Owing to the pressing need for economy in public expenditure, the question of the provision of a new station is not being proceeded with for the present.
