Vol. 165 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Grants Act, 1956.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will indicate the centres to which grants under the Industrial Grants Act, 1956, have been made available during 1957 together with the total sum in each case.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state, in respect of the Industrial Grants Act, 1956, the number of applications (a) received, (b) granted and (c) refused during 1957, together with the number of applications still under consideration at 31st December, 1957.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 18 and 19 together.

As I said in reply to a request for somewhat similar information last month, I have no functions in regard to the day to day administration of the Industrial Grants Act, 1956, by the Industrial Development Authority. Paragraph 7 of the Schedule to the Industrial Grants Act, 1956, provides for the submission by the Industrial Development Authority of an annual report to be laid on the table of each House of the Oireachtas. I do not think it is desirable that the Industrial Development Authority should be asked to supply information of the kind requested by the Deputy in advance of this report.
