Vol. 166 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Travelling Creameries: Milk Supply.

Before I call Question No. 22 on to-day's Order Paper, I should like to say that Deputy Murphy had originally tabled this question for answer on Wednesday, 5th March. Due to an editing change made inadvertently in the Questions Office, the text of the Question—No. 54—on the Order Paper of that date gave the contrary impression to what the member intended. Question No. 22 on to-day's Order Paper has been tabled to rectify the position. I regret any inconvenience caused to the member.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether, in view of the general anxiety among farmers supplying milk to the travelling creameries operated by the Dairy Disposal Board lest the system may be abolished, he will make a detailed statement clarifying the position.

I presume the Deputy's question relates to the problem of complying with the skim milk pasteurisation requirements in respect of travelling creameries. The Dairy Disposal Company is very hopeful that the new type of travelling creamery fitted with pasteurising equipment, practical trials of which will commence shortly, will prove successful.
